Family Beach Photos in Bethany Beach, DE

Last week was a nice getaway for my little family to Bethany Beach, DE. We always enjoy the pools, beach, biking on the boardwalk, mini-golf, runs on the beach, and this year we squeezed in dolphin watching. More than anything else, it's a time to unplug from everything and reconnect.

As our kids get older, we realize just how important the time is for reconnecting. It's the hours playing Uno, Boggle, Connect Four, and Yahtzee that we peel away the layers and get their raw emotions and thoughts. It's the moments running on the beach, without our iPods, when someone starts talking and needs our listening ears. It's the moments on the beach when they just want to snuggle a little closer. The moments when you're showing them that it's safe to be who they are and not who they think you want them to be.

As we write our bucket lists for the summer, I remind myself to look back at our time at the beach and recreate those moments where we were unplugged. Put the computer away and work when the kids are asleep or doing their summer reading. They are kids for such a short period of time, and I am so thankful that they still want to spend their time with their Mommy. Here is to a relaxing, time thoughtfully spent summer for all of us!!
